General Election 2008

Boo~

Supposed to write this entry earlier, but well, you should know by now I don't really have time to spare nowadays... Other than working, there's this project that I am involved in which took up a lot of my free time. =/ Hopefully everything goes well and by that time, you will know what it is all about. XD

Back to topic, a very interesting topic actually... It's the most interesting general election ever in the history of Malaysia simply because we as normal citizens finally have a real feel of what democracy is all about. In the past, the government party (BN) easily swept all the parliament seats and all the states government seats as well, except for Kelantan. However, we see a very big change this time where BN barely survive in getting enough seats to form the government, does this really mean that the people of Malaysia has finally open their eyes?

A lot of discussion are going on, a lot of scandals, a lot of news... So many that you don't really know who is telling the truth. One thing for sure, this election has proven a point that the people wants a government that can bring growth and prosperity to the country and for the people. Everyone is tired of having a government that invest millions of money for something that the country do not need and it does not do any good to the people as a whole.

I do remember seeing BN's posters during their campaign claiming that they have given us a secured place to live, so my question would be, how secured is our home when crime rate is increasing rapidly and the police force couldn't do anything about it? Having bunch of Mat Rempits on the highway during midnight waiting to "have fun" is secure? Lol. The election results has proven that the people are not stupid and brainless, we have eyes to see, we can feel and we are able to judge ourselves, whether the government is doing anything for us. In fact, the government has made all of us, regardless of races, so angry that we don't even care who is on the opposition, we just want to send a message across that we are angry, we hate the way you run the country!

No one has expected that half of the nation thought of teaching BN a lesson by giving their vote to the opposition at the same time, which results in giving 5 most developed states to them. It's too late to say anything since the results are out but we can surely look forward to see what both parties will do for us in order to gain our support. I am pretty sure that both parties will try their hardest to prove themselves because the nation has matured and we can now make our own decision to bring us what we want.

For BN, it's time to really think about the things you have done in the past and what will you do in the future. It's a very clear signal to you that we don't like the way you rule. We do hold the power to decide whether we still want you as our government or not.

For the opposition party, this is your golden chance that you have been waiting for, a chance to prove yourselves useful. You will never know if we might continue support you for the next election if you are really good and you can bring good to the country as a whole.

I place hope in this new government which is not so one sided now because I believe competition always bring improvements and if the ruling party does more for us, the people gain the most benefit and our country will become better. We shall see what is waiting for us in the future, everyone is excited to welcome the new government. =)
