Chocolate Cake |
Ingredients
For Cake
- 125g butter
- 2 tbsp. cocoa powder
- ½ cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 150g caster sugar
- 130g self raising flour
For Icing
- 1 cup icing sugar
- 2 tbsp. cocoa powder
- 20g butter
- 2 tbsp. boiling water
Instructions
For Cake
- Combine butter, cocoa powder and milk in a saucepan, stir mixture under low heat until butter is melted.
- Grease cake pan and preheat oven to 180°C.
- Beat eggs until creamy, gradually add in sugar and mix well.
- Fold in self raising flour and cocoa mixture.
- Pour mixture into cake pan and bake for 35 minutes.
- Cool cake for 5 minutes and place cake on a wire rack for icing.
For Icing
- Combine butter and cocoa powder.
- Stir well with boiling water until smooth.
- Pour mixture over the cake when ready.
Notes
- Feel free to add more cocoa powder for a richer taste and firmer texture.
Reference
Cake turns out very nice, I added extra cocoa and it turns out to be really nice with the rich chocolate taste and it's a lot less sweeter too. The texture of the cake is just nice, it is not too dry but hold wells and will not crumble easily.
